Hi, I got 360 in my leaving cert. I am so passionate about doing home economics teaching. I'm just wondering is there any back door entry besides access course because I do not match requirements. Any help at all is appreciated?

    AFAIK, no.

Other than repeat the LC and increase your points to 450 approx.

    Maybe train in the UK?

Uk is not an option. St Angela's is the only place now that will be recognised with teaching council.

Well I don't know if this is relevant but NUI run an access programme but you have to meet certain criteria and if successful you automatically go on to the degree programme. Information for St. Angela's in Sligo can be found here:

Get your skates on as application closing date is 28th of August.

I would also contact whatever college you wanted to go to and ask if there is any PLC course that would boost your chances next year.

    Best of luck.

PLC max points are 400 so wouldn't be useful in this instance. I think all of the Home Ec combinations in St. Angela's are 450-500.

The easiest way is to repeat the Leaving Cert OP, if you think you are able to get points in that range.
