I have a Ferguson Ariva box, it's fine once you realise its limitations. You get a 7 day guide on Saorview but just now and next on the free to air channels. You will need an aerial for Saorview and a satellite dish for the fta channels. You will get all the BBC, ITV, channel four and five channels. Some music channels, Pick, CBS Reality, SKY News etc..

It really depends on your individual preferences.

A Freesat box is much better for the sat channels; it automatically updates when frequencies change or new channels are added, it has the channels in a relatively useful order with most of the channels you are likely to watch regularly near the top of the EPG and of course it has the full 7 day EPG.

If you watch a lot of Irish TV then the combo box would suit best as it does sourview properly with the sat as a secondary add-on.

The ones I have had dealings with (Triax) were frustratingly bad for sat channels, getting them in any sort of order was a gigantic pain and that after the pain of having 40 odd blank sourview channels to delete manually as well.

Agreed, the Triax is appalling, the Ariva, whilst not perfect is a much better box.
