Online media literacy in national schools?

    Hiya everyone

I am just wondering if teachers/parents could let me know if there is currently any form of online media literacy taught within primary schools? An example of this would be online advertisements such as Advergames?

Thank you for any feedback :)

The short answer is no. The Irish primary curriculum does not teach IT as a subject, but rather uses it as a tool through which other subjects are taught.
Primary school broadband access is nothing short of shocking in many places, dial up would probably be faster.

The websites blocked by the "safety" filter are outrageous too!

Do you know that you can request different levels of filtering?

We have gone for a less strict level of filtering and it works well...but slowly...

I'm only subbing at the moment so every school I work in ends up with different levels. Awkward. :p
