Brown Thomas Skips A Season Ahead

I don't know about you guys, but a late summer has hit the north west and people are finally managing to wear their summer wardrobe. Beautiful blue skies here and a nice heat to lay out on the beach.

However, Brown Thomas have skipped straight to Christmas displays as of this Thursday!!! What's even more interesting is it's because of consumer demand!!

I'll admit that I've picked up a few possible presents in the summer sales, but is't it VERY early for even retailers of their size to start show casing the santa season? I work in retail myself and we're not due to start until the second week of October.

Do many people genuinely start buying glitzy snowglobes at this time of year.....BEFORE even the kids go back to school!

    Most retailers use this strategy.

It's beyond a joke. I like Christmas; the holidays, lights, etc, but the novelty wears off after four weeks, let alone four months.

I don't see what the big deal is they're only opening the Christmas shop some places have a year round Christmas shop. The A/W 15 season is also starting soon so I really don't see a problem with this.

Don't look at it if it bothers you.

Brown Thomas does this every year and and social media/newspapers always react the same shocked way.
Late next week Tesco generally brings out a couple of tins of sweets and some small selection boxes and then there's newspaper articles about it and comments that sound like this "the kids are only going back to school" "it's to early" etc.
If you don't like it just ignore it. On about the 26th of December companies begin advertising Summer holidays and strangely enough people don't complain about this.

Maybe they are getting the ads in now so that by December they can advertise Creme Eggs, Easter, St Patrick's Valentine Massacre greeting cards or what not.

It's the same every year. Tbh I prefer Halloween to Christmas. As soon as the kids go back to school the first toy ads will start and before the end of September it'll be in overdrive for the Christmas market. Usually the Halloween and Christmas stuff is on the shelves at the same time. I like picking up a few decorations in BT each year.

Read the title and thought Brown Thomas had moved into the waste disposal business.
