    Well Lads,

Just a quick heads up to those of you who will be commuting into UCD.
From September there will no longer be free parking on campus during normal business hours (9-5, Monday to Friday, In-Term).
There will be a charge of 1€ per hour for all the car parks. (though this excludes the paid parking and Sports & Fitness Parking which will remain the same)

Parking permits are available to students and staff via ucdestates.ie/commuting/ The cost of which is 50€ per year or 25€ a Semester.

Well no they're not all €1/hr.
The old pay and display car parks are now "visitor car parks" and will be €1/hr (vs the old 50c/hr), max €3 for 24hrs.
The old free car parks will now be 'UCD parking permit only' car parks from September 7th and only UCD staff and students who are eligible for and have purchased a parking permit can park there between the advertised hours.

As well as the €1 and hour spaces there's also €5 an hour short term visitor spaces in a few carparks like the one near Admin beside AIB, they're marked "premium"

Worth noting also that people living on campus aren't eligible for a parking permit.

I've heard that as of yet the staff haven't had to pay for the permit as it's being disputed in the labour court.

Looks like no one's happy with this.

It has been settled now. Letter from the unions involved went out as they agreed with labour court recommendation to accept the €50 per year. Should be in the president's bulletin shortly.

How long can you stay in the one by AIB do you know Tayto? Just wondering is it long enough to go to a 3 hour lab or something like that?

Most of the AIB spaces are now the standard new red marked visitor spaces so if you can get one it's €1 an hour, €3 capped for the 24 hours. There's also the premium short stay visitor spaces but at €15 for a three hour tutorial probably not the best option.
