Does anybody recognise the weapon held by the Dear Leader (or was that his father?) in this pic

it looks like an AK with built-in suppressor (sort of like the silenced version of the Sterling) but there doesnt appear to be a magazine well. So some sort of single-shot suppressed rifle.

Ignore the source of the pic if you can. DPRK_News is a spoof account but
    the picture looks genuine.

Looks more like a Very Big grenade launcher, perhaps the Supreme Leader decided long-range large-caliber grenade launchers sounded like a good idea and ordered they be built. There also appears to be some sort of grappling hook thing and the top of another round at the bottom of the picture, perhaps an anti-tank grenade? Almost looks big enough to take mortar rounds.

Might also fire bean bags for fun?

good spot on the rounds at the bottom of the pic. some sort of grenade launcher then. but the barrel just looks far too long. and too wide. much wider than 40mm. It also seems to have a sight on the left hand side of the receiver that i've just noticed. interesting.

Grappling hook thing is more like the tail end of an RPG round with the fins unfolded.

Looks like something that would be more dangerous to who-ever is pulling the trigger than to who-ever is on the receiving end.

i found some more suggestions here http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/03/14/mystery-north-korean-grenade-launcher/

definitely looks more dangerous to the user than those it is aimed at.

It's North Korean single shot version of the Bugsy Malone splurge gun. Here's a pic of the glorious leader as a younger man training with the fully automatic model.
