Does anyone have this IKEA bed - Is it comfy?

It's a single bed that pulls out into a double if you have someone staying. It looks mad handy and I'd be delighted to have it but my question is, would it be too uncomfortable to sleep in myself for the next few years?

I currently have a single bed because my room is pretty small. I'd like to have a double but don't want to sacrifice the space so this seems like a good compromise (also handy for guests!).

Comfort does take precedence though, so I'm hoping I can get one or two people's input on what this bed is like to sleep in long-term. Thanks!

That price is for the bed frame only, not the matress. The matress is what makes a bed comfortable or not so if you like the idea go ahead and get the bed but source a good matress if you are worried about comfort.

I have actually looked into these beds before and thought they were agreat idea. Im still trying to figure out though - when you want to make it a double bed, you pull out the extra bit and add another single matress on top? Is that how it works?

It look like two single beds matttresses one under the top to pull out to make 'double'.

Would you be happy paying for one bed frame and two single mattresses i wouldnt if i only need one bed.

When it become double it two single mattresses side by side.

If you like space in space or sleeping in the middle then it cannot be comfy as there will be a slope ridge odd shape feeling in your back in the middle where the two beds meet.
you will end up just sleeping on the single side which defeat the purpose.
fine for friends no for couples for snuggles.

We a couple had stayed in a hotel that had two singles put together to make double. Not comfy.
If for two friends sharing fine.

Or if you will be using it as your main bed but short for space what about those extra large single bed/matttress.

I remember sleeping in one of these beds in a family room with friends in belfast forgot name of hotel very comfy and fab pillows that i wanted to take home lol.

Or a double air bed for guests only we slept in one at friends house and it was grand for the weekend.

Or a sofa bed for guests.

We have one of these in our spare room. Just be aware that if you buy the matching mattress it will not be the standard size single as it's smaller. We made the mistake of getting a very firm mattress for it and it was like sleeping on a rock! It also felt far too narrow for an adult to sleep on. We ended up getting a normal size mattress and pulling out the bottom of the base to make it fit. This left us with a spare mattress which is far too small for a standard single bed :(

Agree with Peig. I have the Hemnes version. Wouldn't recommend the foam mattresses that they suggest-too hard for daily use.

So the bed has 2 matresses and you keep one under the other when using as a single bed? Is that hoe it works? IKEA website are brutal for explaining how their products work!

Yeah one under the other. The the bottom slides out for king size. Drawers are very handy.
