I'm going to join in the next few weeks and quiet possibly St Margarets, played it yesterday and the place is in the best condition i've ever seen it and managed to score 43 points off 18.

My question is, I dont know anyone who is a member there so how difficult is it to join and start playing golf with members? Is there competitions on every weekend that I can simply put my name down and rock up? thanks

I believe there are a few members on here too who might be able to get out with you.

Good luck with getting a handicap of 18 after scoring 43 points ;)

Played there recently on a weekend green fee, though it was strange because the course was only accepting green fees and no member comps on the day. I believe the current members committee have agreed this with the club owners and it will happen on 4 weekend days this year. Great way to generate green fee income to cover the running cost of the club.

I was told they've had the best green fee income in years, something like 25k plus per week during the summer which is huge at the green rate they charge.

The course was in smashing condition and a real credit to the new management team.

They have also taken in loads of new members (80 to 100 I was told), so that would mean loads of people in the same boat as you. Think the total membership now stands at 250 to 300, which is why they would need so much green fee income to run this place which must have a running cost of about 1 million per year.

Great business model if price correctly to the casual golfer.
