New Car for the Mother

Hi,

My mother has asked me to source here a new car, she wants to down size from a C class Mercedes, which she finds to big and has terrible visibility out of making it poor for parking and manovering round town, etc etc
I'd be pretty good a bangernomics myself but honestly know nothing about the new car market, She looking for something small & hatch back. Automatic & with parking sensors and or cameras. and something that's easy to get in an out of ( bad hips). I'm not sure about budget but id rule out the bottom & top end of the scale like Dacia & Mercedes and stick to something more normal like Ford / Renault etc

Also what sort of trade in would you expect off a new car with a 02 Merc C180 ?????

Any recommendations ?????

A 13 year old petrol Merc is worth feck all as a trade in to a dealer, all they will do is reduce the cash discount on the new car by taking the Merc off your hands. If you can sell it privately on behalf of your mother then that is probably the most cost effective way.

Also without a rough budget it's hard to recommend much. Another thing to note is that reversing cameras and parking sensors can easily be fitted aftermarket these days so don't discount a model because they are not fitted from the factory.

I was offered the Mercedes myself but if she could get a good trade in on it she might be better off, I would be contributing nothing toward taking it off here hands, Its prob only worth around 1500 on DD

how much would you expect for a cash upfront price or is there any difference between that and finance ?

I'd avoid that automatic Yaris, it's the same multimode box from 12 years ago and is still rubbish.

The hybrid is the automatic yaris to get.
