Syncing route plan between PC and phone

Hey everyone,
Was wondering could any of you lovely people help me out.
So I'm planning a road trip, and was trying to plan routes on Google maps on the PC, which I have done, but I can't find a way to get it onto my phone (the route I mean. I'm trying to go the scenic route but also not get lost! I've tried it on Google maps and HERE neither of which I can figure out how to do what I'm looking to. If anyone could help me out it would be appreciated.!

I have never tried this but google said this:

Created the map on my laptop from start point to end point
pulled the route to take the roads I wished
Hit the Little Gear icon in the lower RH corner
shared link
short url
emailed to my gmail account
opened email on my phone
clicked link
default on my phone for map links is goole maps
opened the route in google maps mobile app
Hit start
off I went
