Freelander 1 problem

    Hi all. I have a freelander 1 TD4 and have noticed yesterday evening that on the idle it was just just not ticking over as normal up and down slightly. Then today seemed to be loosing power then as I'm driving engine management light comes on dash power obviously drops because of this.
    So has anyone any idea what the problem is ???

    What year Freelander is this ?
    Fuel pump(s) were a common enough failure on those - early ones had 2 pumps and later ones had just one ( if I remember correctly , been a while since I dealt with them ).
    Has it been serviced recently - blocked fuel filter could cause fuel starvation .
    MAF sensor also trouble some - disconnect it and see if vehicle runs better.
    My bro -in-law drove his around with MAF disconnected for a few months.
    Seeing that the EML is on you could get it scanned and see what comes up - though some scanners do not 'communicate' very well with LR vehicles .

    Changed the fuel filter, run some diptane through the system In case I had dirty fuel. Light on dash has gone off but still have no power. Will drive and sounds smooth but power is gone. No smoke.

    Did you try disconnecting the MAF ?
