Any ideas for a popular cycle route, between 80-120 km from or around the city, on a Sunday? Might hire a road bike.

might not want to be this sunday. roads around Copenhagen going to be very busy with a lot of cyclists, but it'll be closed roads to anyone not racing

Wow! A full on ironman out the hotel window. Change of plan imminent, methinks. Thanks Mossy.

I suggest finding a Mikeller bar.

When I visited, we hired hotel bikes like Dublin bikes. Best way of seeing the city. You get less frustrated by the amount of cyclists if you are one.

When I lived there I enjoyed the coastal route up to hamlets castle

Oh, and I believe I forgot the obligatory  smiley to indicate some jest in my post above. It really is fantastic place, but I wouldn't be seeking out public transport to get around.

I've walked, cycled and bussed around CPH. Never had a problem with any mode.

Mind you, wheeling a buggy on the cobbled footpaths was not enjoyable. Copenhageners know this, which is why they have prams with big chunky wheels (SUV buggies, as it were).

But I know what you mean. Cyclists rule in CPH, as they do in the Netherlands. I found parts of the Netherlands to be much less accessible for pedestrians than for cyclists, so yes, the best solution is just to cycle everywhere.
