Phone not working in same config after fibre upgrade

Just a quick question here. VF installed fibre in my house today. Before this I had the line from the phone point coming into the sitting room to the router and a line from the phone socket on the router into my phone.
However after the enginner swapped out the old router for new I noticed the phone wasn't working, juts getting a double tone, kinda like an engaged tone.
I checked the new phone point that was installed in the hall and noticed there are two sockets, one specifically marked phone. Plugged it in and it works fine. However I was wondering if there is any way to have the phone back in the sitting room working from the phone sockets on the router or am I looking at running a separate cable? Thanks.

My guess is some idiot from KNN has wired your internals to the secondary pair on the drop. Only way you could get anything but have a real dialtone on the MDP. That or your handset gives that tone to indicate no line(wouldnt be common) and they've just left the internals completely disconnected.

If they'd done it correctly your internals would all work for phones, call vodafone and have them report a bad install. That'll send the installers back to fix their handywork.

Cheers, thanks for that. It was indeed KN

Just an update for anyone considering VF fibre and the issue in my OP, I rang tech support and was basically told the new routers aren't as good at supporting a phone connection!?.
So I have to run a secondary cable now looks like.

Jesus, what monkeys do they have working on 1st level support?! Don't take that. They botched the install. Ask to speak to Ellen in 2nd level support although you shouldn't need to but you need to speak to someone with a level of intelligence.

Yeah, I was kind of dubious. To be honest, I'd be far more pissed if it wasn't for the fact that for the first time I have a connection that makes cloud backup an actual possibility! I'll ring again and see what they say.

Further update on this. Unsurprisingly it turns out engineer also knocked out my monitored alarm. VF sending out someone to repair issue in next day or so.
