Son finished degree in May 2014. Got a 39 hr a week job in Sept 2014 til Juky 2015.

He now unemployed.... And still living with us his parents. I an encouraging him to 'claim his stamps' and at least get some money while he searches for work.

Is it that a too simplistic approach??? What options are available to him??

Will my income and that of my wife have a bearing on his claim????

If your son only ever worked for 10 months then he hasn't made enough contributions to claim his stamps.
He can apply for JSA but
If he is under 26 then his parents income will affect his rate of JSA.

He should still register as unemployed though, it can open up opportunities for further training and supports.

Just to clarify if he is under 25 his parents income will be assessed against his JSA once he reaches 25 parents income is not assessed.
