Is the modem switch faulty or am I using it wrong.

Three symbol shows in window. I press and hold button and then battery symbol displays and green light is on but I’m still not connected.

Then I press and hold button again, and it powers off and Three sign displays.

Then I press and hold button again, and finally ‘connecting’ displays.

The Huawei 586 has an annoying habit of going into standy/recharge if powering up on the dock. Behaviour that drives me bananas if I'm coming home with it depleted and plug it in, then switch it on.

To connect to your service provider, lift it off the cradle first.. I'm with 3 as well.

I took it out of its cradle as you suggested Amalgam and got zero response from it at all, then put it back and its back to 'normal' its a right pain of a yoke:)
