They probably won't even ask, but your dad can still bring his own id with him, he's the one presenting it for testing.

The person bringing the vehicle for the NCT needs to produce their licence. In this case your Dad needs to produce his licence. If your neighbour brought the car down for you, your neighbour would have to produce their licence.

I only ever presented two cars for NCT. Both times i was asked for ID (driving license) and both times i wasnt asked for the log book.

They will accept either a driver's license or passport as id of whoever the person is bringing the car to be tested. It has to be of the person bringing it to be tested.

Also they will still test the car without the log book but will withhold the pass cert until it is produced. This is of course if they ask to see it in the first place, it's hit and miss depending on who is behind the counter.

It is the presenters photo ID. Can be a passport if the driving licence has been in the washing machine...

I'd assume so, it's a form of photo ID.

They don't care how one gets to the centre (unoccupied learner etc) as long as the car is there.

Well that's my point that it's not just form of ID. It says clearly on NCT website that it must be driving licence or passport.
I tried once using my national ID (Polish) and they refused, saying it must be driving licence or passport - nothing else allowed. Pity I didn't have any of those then.
Anyway - if they are so strict about it, I wonder if they would accept learner's permit. Does anyone have any experience?

It would want to be a proper miserable cnut that wouldn't accept a learners permit.

Well was it also a proper miserable cnut that didn't accept my national ID?
He just said passport or driving licence - nothing else.
If they didn't accept national ID, why would they accept learners permit?

Learners Permit should be accepted as its still a driving licence. I have no experience of this as my dad normally brings the cars for the test for most of our family.

You're going to get reared up on now, learners permit isn't a licence etc blah blah

its a licence allowing the bearer (holder) of the licence to learn how to drive either through driving lessons or while supervised on a public road. I held one for 16 months while I learned how to drive as per the current legislation at that time.

This is not a thread relating to whether a learner permit (which was known as a provisional licence when I was a learner driver) is a licence or not it is a discussion on whether or not a learner permit is an acceptable form of ID to show at a NCT centre.

But is it or is it not?
NCT says must be driving licence or passport.
What is definition of "driving licence" and doesn learner permit include in that?

    I'm not going pedantic.
As subject went around, I just want to find out if learner's permit will let go through NCT or not? That's all,
