it won't put me off anyway i travel out there every 2nd month, you have more chance of getting caught up in a bomb in london/paris than in bkk.

I'm heading there before the end of the year. I'm not put off, but will keep an eye on it obviously. Been reading up on the travel advice and see that it's illegal to criticise the coup. Not that I go on holiday to make political statements..!

I fly out in three weeks to Thailand for a month(yay!) but it has made me a little nervous so I might spend less time in Bangkok than I had planned. Especially since I heard they found another bomb hidden in a house unexploded. Highly unlikely they are linked but still gives me some nerves.

Might spend 3-4 days in bkk instead of 5-6, no major changes really but still it will be on my mind.

Simple rule in Thailand - don't mention politics, the royal family or Buddha unless a Thai person brings it up with you.

I'm in Bangkok at the moment. There's surprisingly little security given the serious nature of the incident. I've just come from Beijing where everything is scanned and searches are normal for public transport. There are no such measures on the Skytrain. Thai's themselves are wary though - the numbers travelling on the Skytrain seem to be well down on the norm.
