Evening all. Had efibre installed this morning. Fella said in a few hours it should kick in. Still nothing. Rang up eircom. They tried the daddy pig trick from peppa pig. Turn it off and on again. And see if it works. First thing I tried. :p
Still nothing. They said wait until tomorrow and if not working ring them. but I've gotta watch Liverpool give Bournemouth a kicking tonight. Am I missing something. The dsl light is green. The internet and Wi-Fi is flashing. I can see the network as connected on my phone but nothing. Any ideas

Dsl light solid means there's partial sync, means the install should be ok as long as he has you on the right port. Not getting solid internet light means you're not logging on to the access server. You'll most likely have to ring Eircom again

Don't wait for it to come on tonight. It will take 24 hours. Go watch your game at your friend's house or the pub.

Thanks for that. Now I'm pissed. I told the efibre crowd to leave till Tuesday if it wouldn't work on Monday night. Now I've got to sit with a bunch of man united supporters

Sorry, dude... Eircom made me a whole lot of promises that led to me not getting a job I applied for, and now I'm a Vodafone customer. Whap a Man U supporter on the shoulder for me. :D

Vodafone resell Eircom, win win for Eircom :p

Being serious a moment I would recommend Vodafone too, Eircom are a waste of space

I always tell people go with Eircom to get fibre installed, then you can change to whoever. Vodafone do not pay for an in-house, the KN installer cannot move the main socket and they cannot touch the modem whereas with Eircom they'll redirect the main pair to move the main socket or run a data port extension if needed.

At the risk of jinxing myself, had efibre installed at home couple of weeks ago & at work last week both by eircom with no loss of service. Was told I would get up to 18mbps at home & just over 17, work was up to 80 & getting around 75 & no issues yet.

I don't understand that to be honest - I've had two separate installs of eFibre and in both cases it's been up and running in minutes! Did they give you a reason why it was taking so long to activate?

Oh, and it absolutely wipes the floor with UPC's Horizon box!!

(Runs for the exit door before the inevitable abuse arrives after that last statement! lol)

I'd agree with you on that. First time I got eFibre installed, there was no line inside the house and the engineer ran the line to exactly where I wanted the modem to go and did a lovely clean job as well - you wouldn't even see it! Plus, the service was live within a few minutes and has been flawless since so I am a very happy customer! :D

Eircom: excellent product in eFibre, excellent engineers but without a shadow of a doubt, the worst customer service centre ever!!!

I'm not joking, I nearly cancelled it before the installation took place because they messed around so much. The worst thing is, I happened to get talking to someone from there in a social setting and they freely admitted that it is a disaster! From what they told me, I'd hate to work there.... :(

    1. It doesnt take time to kick in if you have an existing service, its live from the second he connects it. If not, he f'cked up.

    2. Assuming youve the new modem(F2000) then a slow flashing internet means no link, theyve got the wrong port, one which is disabled. A fast flashing internet means you've got traffic, but is probably a test port if the internet doesnt work.

Either way, they're idiots. Theyll have to return to get it going.

Not if the problem lies with Eircom, it's common, sales issue, problem with the port etc. The op needs to escalate it so it's dealt with.

Spoke to a friend today and he said same. Probably wrong port at cabinet. So after usual phone call of turn it on and off and check my computer settings (no device would connect). Eircom agreed that they're gonna take a look. Should be working tomorrow afternoon. What peed me off the most that I told them last night that my end was grand. Anyway hopefully should be sorted. My youngest boy is getting peppa pig withdrawals

Only UPC manage 1 day tech call outs for residential, id budget 2-3 days not to get his hopes up.
