Good price and a good disc. Got one on Amazon last week and paid more for it. Typical!

How does it compare to this 240gb one at £50?

10 year warranty on the 850, not so on the 840.
Power consumption on the 850 only 3w
Technological advances. There is a good article on it here:

    http://www.custompcguide.net/compare-samsung-850-pro-versus-840-evo-and-840-ssd-series/

Mind you the 840 is an excellent ssd and would suit most of us fine. I have both and don't really notice the difference in normal use.

I have the 840 in my laptop and a Kingston one in my pc in work, the 840 is a much better performer so a big vote for the Samsung EVO drives from me. Any SSD though is a major upgrade on HDD, I could never go back. :)

Yes, Sandisk has 'only' 3 year warranty (while 10 years with the Samsung 850 Pro)
Also, it has lower write speeds comparing to the 850 pro.

But in general it is also a good price for the Sandisk.

might as well went with lifetime warranty,as given current rate of new technologies rolling out ssds will be like dinosaurs in 10y ,or like floppie disks now if anyone remembers them.

That said own 840evo and best thing as performance goes, almost a year now and never failed.
