If its from a main dealer it is cheap for them. If it is an indie then it should be about €350 - €400.

I presume that includes actually fitting the clutch?

Has that car also got a Dual Mass Flywheel?

Yes from a main dealer. Didn't realise they charge that much extra. Crazy.

And are they fitting the clutch too?

Does it have a dual mass flywheel though ?

I put a new clutch in my Focus earlier in the year, parts were over 900e but it was a slightly bigger clutch.

DMF was half the price of the kit.

Yeah it's 650 plus labour. I'm not sure if it dual mass flywheel, she just said its a 3 part clutch

For a normal 1.4/1.6 petrol Focus the 3 part kit should cost around €450 supplied and fitted by an independent garage.

My car has the 1.8 Petrol from the Focus, and it has a DMF. Parts alone retail at over €800.

Why are you bringing a 2005 car to a main dealer to get a clutch done ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,698 ✭✭✭Hachiko

don't understand why people take old cars to main dealers, total wast of money, that is going to cost over 1k euro to do with labour, probably get it done for 600euro or so from an indy. Unless you have a very specialist car there is absolutely no point going to a main dealer with an old car.

Because that is where the recovery truck took it to early this morning after it breaking down at 12am last night. Seeing as it was over the 50km radius for insurance I was fairly limited in where it could have been taken to as I was in the middle of nowhere.

    But thanks for your comment.

Going to get it picked up tomorrow by another garage. I don't know that area quite well so had to do a bit of ringing around today. 350eu from another place. Thanks for all the replies

Insist that the price is for a three piece clutch and includes a new release bearing/slave cylinder.
