    Hi,

Recently bought a 1.6 tdci 08 Focus, the permieter alarm functions fine when using the remote lock/unlock on the the main key.

However if using either the main key or spare key to manually unlock the car door the perimeter alarm goes off with about 15 seconds unless I can get the key into the ignition and start the engine inside that time period.

Is this normal ? the dealer I purchased from told me that's a normal behavior for the Ford Focus, but I'm not convinced.

    Anyone else experience this ?

How much would it cost to get a 2nd key that has remote lock/unlock feature ?

    cheers

    Matt

That's normal for a Ford when using the key to unlock rather than the remote.

Not sure on the cost of the spare key, but I think you can program the spare yourself if you already have a remote key (via a complicated amount of turning in the ignition and pressing of lock and unlock buttons), but you'll still need to buy one and have it cut. Price it with your local Ford dealer (generally not that expensive) and Lockdoctor or Autokey.
