Peat Sods vs Briquettes and where to store

    Hey Folks

I'm getting my very first fireplace (A Druid 5 multi-fuel stove). I have never lit a fire before so very new to this. Any help would be appreciated.

I wish to burn peat in some form to get that lovely smell. In terms of use, what is the difference between the Peat sods and the briquettes? Are briquettes more popular these days? Are both as easy to light? I understand that I have to use firelighters or some kindling to get the peat to burn.

Also, would I be able to store either of these in a garden shed? Or is that too damp?

    Thanks!

I will be burning peat/turf only in mine. Your garden shed will be perfect once it is not letting in any water to begin with.

If you are bringing your own turf from the bog it will be probably cheaper than buying briquettes.

Run with both for a while and see what gives you better bang for the euro.

Best lit with firelighters and dry kindling, problem is with a lot of net bags sold in petrol stations, the kindling tends to be damp in what I have seen.
