Egr cooler pipe replacment.

The egr pipe is broke on the engine of my 1.9tdi caddy 2007 and its €560 to get a new one fitted/supplied ! ....

Is there any way around this or am I screwed.

normally on the vws and audis any decent welder will be able to repair the pipe were it usually cracks rather than replacement

I was told the material is too thin to weld?

not to thin if you've someone who can tig weld it haven't had any issues with any ive had repaired

needs to be carefully marked before removal so it can be welded in correct position

Where are you and could you do mine.

I dont weld them myself, Mark them up and give them to a welder who does any welding work beyond my skill level for us. honestly not a big issue for any professional welder

Fingers crossed Seamus McGrath motors can hook me up they did mention about getting a pipe made up accros the road at some different shop but not fully clear on that yet. Tomorrow morning will tell.

normally not a major issue bit time consuming to sort out so costs a bit but alot better than paying for the complete unit

I'm wondering is it better to clean the whole system whiles its off, manifold and egr.

really depends on condition , some can be blocked solid others only surface soot, depends nearly completely on driving style and running conditions eg. stop start or decent motorway driving.
