Hi Folks, due to a wild youth and a very complacent mindset while earning a wage, the age for joining up with the PDF both army and navy passed me by, i'm now 33 and seriously want to try something, It would seem the reserves are my only option in this country, that sounds ideal but I hate the part time aspect of it.
Can anyone advise on other options outside of here, I would prefer if it were people who have or currently serve

The most common alternative service from Ireland is the British Armed Forces, but I believe their upper limit is the 33rd Birthday.

I knew the French Foreign Legion was higher, and having checked, the age limit for joining is 39 years and 6 months. You will not find many other options at your age.

thanks for the reply, Larbre 34,
the french foreign is very appealing as i have "aged" over everything else, not sure what the girlfriend and kids would think of it, its kinda funny, I'm probably fitter than most inside that age bracket, then there is also the royal navy, quite an interesting prospect indeed, and someone can join up until 36, "aged" out of the royal marines....
any idea of the wages in the FFL

If you have a girlfriend and kids i'd think long and hard before joining the FFL. You probably wouldnt get to see much of them for a few years. Thats more a career for people who have no family commitments.

Yeah I think you are right pablomakaveli , I guess the burning desire to get the chance to do what I should've done ten years ago was overriding my common sense,
