    +1 they definitely are. After getting used to the automatic helmet its very hard to go back to the ordinary one.

    got my dad one last year, he got used to it very quickly and is very happy with it

    First one i bought was a fixed shade. Packed up last year. Had it about 7 years. Kept switching in and out of shade. Using a Draper variable shade one now. Does the job fine. Fierce handy for fiddly jobs where 2 hands are needed. No need to flip up the shield between runs or when changing rods.
    Just cant figure why they're all covered in "artwork"

    Have the basic parweld auto darkening and couldn't go back to the old type at all, if it broke in the morn I'd be getting another straight away

    I've often gone walking around the place, looking for mine, only to realise I had it on my head. :)
    I'd be careful about buying a cheap one on the internet (not saying the above links are, by the way). You might end up damaging your eyesight.
