Do you love you? As a nation, I feel Irish people are constantly berating themselves and people who don't do this are seen as 'cocky' or 'conceited'.

Why do we give ourselves such a hard time? We all have our flaws, so what? In the words George R.R. Martin 'Once we accept our flaws, no one can use them against us' and it is so true.

I can be cranky, abrupt and tactless but I can also be bubbly, loving and awesome.

I used to get so upset if people didn't like me or had a negative opinion of me. Now, I couldn't give 2 sh*ts, there's people I don't like and vice versa. What difference does it make in the grand scheme of things? Why should you alter who you are to suit someone else?

There's no one I like spending time with more than me, no one. I bring myself on loner dates all the time and it's amazing. I have a habit of wandering off and talking to random people when I am out with friends. I love feeling confident in my own skin and not be afraid to go out and do things on my own. I used to think being a loner was weird but I have found that I have actually met so many great people by having the courage to go out and do things alone.

I love me and I wouldn't change me for the world. I get on my own nerves sometimes but for the most part I'm pretty happy with me.

I'm very comfortable with myself. And my family and friends like me the way I am. I don't care what others think, I don't try to change myself for anyone. It's not all good, mind you, but I'm happy with the finished product.

Being a loose cannon who does not play by the rules the first thing I did was ignore the warning and smear this all over my knob and bollocks. The bollocks I knew and loved are gone now. In their place is a maroon coloured bag of agony which sends stabs of pain up my body every time it grazes against my thigh or an article of clothing. I am suffering so that you don't have to. Heed my lesson. DO NOT PUT ON KNOB AND BOLLOCKS.

(I am giving this product a 5 because despite the fact that I think my bollocks might fall off, they are now completely hairless.)

I absolutely despise myself and I can't see it changing any time soon.But to give myself credit I do have a great deal of contempt for a large amount of people apart form myself as well.

Nope. Don't even like myself the vast majority of the time, let alone love.

I mean, I don't think I'm a bad person. Like I don't go around pushing old ladies into moving traffic or anything. I'm glad that I'm not a scumbag who doesn't have a conscience or is rude to everybody. But that's just not being a dick, which isn't exactly a great achievement or anything. My own company isn't particularly satisfying for me. There's nothing that makes me special or exceptional (yes, I'm the only "me" in the world but sure anybody can say that about themselves! "I'm unique, just like everyone else.").

If I had a talent, a skill or something to contribute to the world, or even if I just managed to accomplish something worth accomplishing, then maybe I'd like myself a little better. For now though, I'm far from satisfied with who I am and even though I've tried I haven't been able to get to a stage where I am satisfied.

The last few years have been very difficult so I kinda owe it to myself to see all my good. My empathy and compassion, my intellect, my fun and quirky side, my intuition. Stuff that makes me me. We all get like that from time to time. It's important not to let that stuff get to you. None of us are perfect and people will say horrible things to us throughout our lives but just remember all the good things that make you, you.

I'm very happy with who I am because I am nearly exactly who I wish to be. (I would prefer to procrastinate less, and I am currently working on it, but I may have to give up and accept that's a facet of my core personality in the end.)

People who hate themselves baffle me. Unlike fixing other people, or ending world hunger, war, disease, etc., changing yourself is completely within your own power. If you don't like yourself, why not take action to correct the things which bother you?

I can just about tolerate myself tbh, I put up with giving myself an awful lot of crap when I don't meet or fall below standards I set for myself. I'm also terrible at taking my own advice like telling people "if you don't love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to love you?", but jesus I've still to convince myself of that one :pac:

I suppose I'll put up with myself for another while until science finds a way to transfer my consciousness into a body that can keep step with my brain.

And your insight.

I'd like to be able to appreciate my good points like that, but I can't always see them as being the most dominant parts of me. I tend to see the negative as being bigger than the positive. I've just too many insecurities.

Oh Candie I could write pages and pages of my dark places but it's about acceptance of the whole you. Havin insecurities doesn't define who you are, they are just an aspect of your personality. Now go give yourself a hug

I love myself 3 times a day maybe. Arm symmetry is a critical issue.

I can not say that I experience any emotion towards myself really. I have opinions about myself but I do not have emotions _about_ myself like love or hate.

That said - I am maintaining myself around the point of being the person I have always wanted to be - pretty well so far. There is little about myself I would change at this point.

I'm a pretty damn good cook (when sober), but even then I have a tendency to leave the kitchen looking like a suicide bomber stopped in for a coffee and lost track of time...

As for people that can't cook. I tend to ask of them, 'can you read and follow basic instructions?' Then you can cook. Nobody needs to be a member of MENSA to follow a basic recipe.

Not to be facetious, but I think you're right. I think I'd be very depressed to think that I'd stopped developing and growing at 28. I hope it'll be something I continue to do for the rest of my days. I'm okay with not being perfect, it means I have all kind of adventures ahead of me, becoming myself.
