Laptop for College

So far myself I've narrowed it down to this HP Laptop and ASUS Laptop but I'm open to any other suggestions. I've never purchased a refurbished laptop before and if anyone has any feedback buying an A1 refurb from laptops direct I'd love to hear it.

    Budget: Under €450.

Intended use: Web browsing, streaming Netflix, and I will be doing a Computer Science course, although I doubt that makes a huge difference. I would like a battery life of at least four hours and ideally the laptop would have a 7200RPM hard drive.

Mobility: This would be an added bonus but it's not hugely important.

Warranty: One year would suffice, however there is the option of buying a three year warranty on the refurbished HP I linked above which I think could be worth the €37 but I have no experience of buying extended warranties on laptops.

What Operating System do you use?
    Windows.

Personally I'm leaning towards going with the HP because it's slightly smaller in length at least, better CPU, and 7200RPM hard drive.

That refurb is pretty poor value. Small hard drive and 2nd gen i5 (they're currently now on 5th generation). The Asus is OK value but it's probably important that you investigate battery life as I'd imagine that's pretty important for college.

If you check around on Dabs.ie as well, or Amazon, there are plenty of i3 laptops in that price range - but the battery life will be key.

    How about this?

Seems incredible value for a 2GB graphics card and 256GB SSD for €400.

Think I'm going to go with this. Comes out to €450.

You know that neither of the Lenovos come with an operating system?

A laptop with a full HD screen and a Geforce 840M for €350 is an absolute steal. Would be able play most new games at OK levels.

The one with the 820M is less of a deal as that card is not really much better than integrated graphics.

Wouldn't worry too much about Windows, you can get a key for Windows 7 for about €15 from Reddit.

Yeah I'm aware of that, I'll install my own OS.
