    Hi,

I have a friend was working aboard. The job ended and he has been travelling for several months.

He is going to start looking for work as soon as he gets back to Ireland, but he is going to have to apply for Jobseeker's Allowance because getting a job may take some time.

Since he was working aboard and since it has been several months, will he still need "details of income"? He actually posted home a few months worth of payslips (to avoid losing them on his travels) but they never arrived.

And when he gets back he'll most liking be he will be renting a flat. He was thinking that a short term lease might be best as he doesn't think he'll find a long term one until he has a job (or the allowance). Is a short term flat be acceptable to the Department of Welfare?

I tried to get answers to these for my friend last week but had no luck getting past being on hold so any suggestions on these would be welcome.

    Regards
