ok... be unsure if this breeder uses that... young bulls also

When I look up my pbaa bulls on icbf and look up previous evaluation.....the first evaluation is 6 months before their dob.....how can that be,???

And how can they be linear scored if nobody has seen them .....I dont accept sire + dam divided by 2 as some of my smallest cows produce big calf and some of my biggest cows the smallest !!!

Just wondering if buying PBR beef heifers can you look up their ratings like you can for a bull through bull search?

You can, but not on ICBF. You'll have to look them up on the relevant online herdbook for that breed. For instance here is the Simmental one http://193.120.218.17/taurus/herdbook/index.php?org_code=SI

Then just go to the traits tab. Can also be handy to look at the dams and see how many calves they have registered to them and what their calving interval is like.

I have had full brothers and the rating changes... ironically if your bull has a good weight gain his calving difficulty increases.. which appears crazy but that is how the ICBF computer works.. feels stupid

    Quick question folks..
Seen set of twin pedigree angus bulls for sale:
    checking breeding--star values,etc..
and there different--how would this be..

    https://webapp.icbf.com/bull-search/view/1186027906

    https://webapp.icbf.com/bull-search/view/1186029896

Surely be the same, unless different weighs at birth/growth figures maybe would cause this????
Probably genetics. Just because they are twins doesn't mean they will have the same scores.
I had twin bulls on test in Tully years ago and their figures were like chalk and cheese.

20 - 30% accuracy is rubbish as well, those cattles figures could do anything in the next 12 mths

I printed August evaluations for some bulls I was interested in looking to use (11 August). Went in again over the weekend and printed again and eventhough its still using the august evaluation, the values have changed for the better!!

FPI was €166 replacement now €169, Terminal gone from 96 to 98. Carcass wght was 17kg, now 18kg, Daughters CD was 6.8, now its 6.5. All these numbers have been changed eventhough they are supposed to be based on August evaluation and theres no change to reliability %'s.

Goal posts moving in between valuations, and also interesting, in this case at least, all the stats are improved.

If you look at the previous evaluations you'll see that there's 'Aug 2015' and 'Aug 2015 Beef'. Presumably they made errors in the original august update and had to re-release all the evaluations again.

Lucky for them they're not on the same penalty regime as the farmers then.

Does anyone know can you generate a sales catelogue for commercial cattle (with known sires) unless my memory is failing me you could once but it does not seem to be case any more? It seems to only work now for pbr's thanks. Mac

The applications tab and then hit sales catalogue, all the cattle show up there and then just tick the ones you want to print out.

I just tried it there to check and all ours show up, not just the PB's.

Thanks kovu, mine are showing up but I'm only getting blanks for the commercials when I generate the report.

Oh I see what you mean now. Wasn't there a bug in that site last week, maybe it knocked out the commercial beef option? Might be good to give them a ring or email tomorrow.
