Hi folks. We're getting work in the kitchen and wanted to get some opinions.

Large open plan space with kitchen spanning 2 walls almost. New neutral cream floor tiles going down, oak work tops, subway tile splash back. Also down lighters and a large velux in the ceiling for more light.

The kitchen is north facing a very dark, so hoping velux will help with that.

I'm trying to think of a colour to paint cabinets that will, a. Compliment tiles, oak worktop and splash back. And b, not be too dark in the already dark kitchen.

I like grey tones but I'm really not sure if they will go with the cream tile

The house is your standard 3 bed semi bungalow with modern furnishings. The kitchen cabinets take up a good 1/3 of all wall space so the colour will be important. I feel like a cream tile and cream might be too bland?

    Would appreciate feedback

    Thanks

If you like the look of the grey, would you think of a warm grey like Elephant's Breath or Skimming Stone from Farrow and Ball. They're both a cross between grey and beige and are lovely warm colours but not bland cream.

Good idea. I will look at that palette and compare tiles.

I don't know if you're in Dublin ever, but it's worth bringing a sample of your tile and your door into Farrow and Ball in Cornmarket. They're great for advising on colours. Hope it turns out well.

I'm not sure why you think cream and grey wouldn't go together. They're both very natural colours, think of pebbles on a beach for example.
As mentioned, Farrow and Ball have some really nice colours. Our kitchen units are painted Cornforth White which is a grey not unlike Elephant's Breath. The floor tiles are a cream travertine style with a bit more grey in them. Get onto the F&B website for some inspiration and they have suggestions for matching colours etc.
