Passing through Newcastle West lately and I see that the Special Olympics Host Town sign is still up, 12 years after the event.

Is it not time to take it down ?

    Cahersiveen is the same.

    Anyone know of others ?

Why? It's a nice memory of something great we did as a country. I'd be in no rush to remove them. I quite like them.

Last weekend I noticed one driving through Castlerea. I wasn't surprised.

I could live with the Special Olympics ones

I like them a lot, my towns is still up. I like to drive around the country and see the names of all the competing countries. I've also never seen one in less than excellent condition so I guess a lot of people are proud of them.

Pretty sure the Arklow host town sign is still on the north side of the town.

Roads in general have too many signs, too many are redundant ones.

Along with these, any thank you cards to the 'National development plan' at the start of bypasses & motorways need to go.

Nothing wrong with old signs being left up, as long as they don't give false information like Baile thoin is straight ahead when the road has been rebuilt and now goes into a cul de sac.
I'd be more concerned about the warning signs that have fallen down and have not been replaced!

Well we spent this years "putting up signs and taking them down" budget on all those millions of "Wild Atlantic Way" signs. Like you could miss where the Atlantic is.

Maybe next year we can take the Special Olympic ones down. Plus all those Road Flooded signs that are still up since the great flood of 2009.

Still see plenty of signs up that illegal dumping will cost you £1500 or whatever in some country areas. It would be interesting if someone was caught would it be legal to fine them the equivalent euro amount for dumping.
