Serious log book issues

    Hello all,

Recently bought a car, I buy and sell cars often enough so this issue really is my own stupid mistake! I dont buy/sell for profit merely as a hobby. When I was filling out the log book for the new car I made a mistake and wrote my DOB in the date of sale section. This reverted back to the registered owner as my DOB is nearly 20 years before the car was registered, one problem was I bought this car off a friend of his, a trader of sorts I suppose you could call him. The reason the friend was selling it was due to the owner moving away. Which was legit as there was huge rigmarole trying to get the log book sent back relying on his family/friends that are still in Ireland to do it. SO, 2 months later I finally have the log book and car in my name! Great you would think? NO, the date of sale on the log book is 2 months before I bought it!!!!! So this leaves an issue regarding the back tax but also I dont want to be held accountable for any unpaid tolls etc on the car. My question is can I get this date changed? I have proof in the form of when I transferred my insurance on to the new car and I sold my old car the day before I bought this one so they would have a record of that plus I'd be able to show my insurance was on the old car too. Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?

    regards

The sale of your old car and transfer of insurance isn't reliable proof of when you bought the new car (you could have had both) but it should help. If you can get this "trader of sorts" who sold the car to provide you with a signed written statement/receipt saying he sold the car on <insert date> I suspect that should be sufficient. Have you spoken to Shannon about it yet?

Havent asked him as of yet, but I could. Also have numerous texts back and forth with him on the days up to the sale and on the day of sale saying when we were going to meet etc then texts after that. No only got it friday after work so have to wait till monday I guess
