    Hi,
I my wife had a Learner permit for 2 years and recently passed her driving Test and got the full license "N"

I remember a conversation with 1 insurance company that told me that, if we paid the full premium while holding a "L" license, we would have got a refund once the test was passed and the Full License obtained

Allianz is telling me that is not the case, cause the length of license is also taken into consideration

Should I investigate this more or I m wrong (bad memory) and just leave it?

Years ago, before the "N" riddiculousness, i got a refund when i passed my test.

I doubt you would these days as insurance companies appear to pretty much do what they want.

More NCB?... that's a premium increase
less penalty points?... that's a premium increase
newer "safer" car?... that's a premium increase
Full license?... you better believe thats a premium increase.

I didn't get a refund when I passed my test, although my sister the year before did get a refund of around 400 euro (!). they told me I was already getting a full license price. maybe just ring again and try but it really does seem like they just do whatever they feel like

    Thanks

that could actually be... my wife had the Learner permit for 2 years.. and since the new "N" has been introduce in August 2014, i might have called Insurance company before that date, when they were still offering refunds

A person granted a first full driving licence on or after 1st August 2014 must display N-plates on the vehicle for a period of 2 years, and during that period display N-plates on any other vehicle in respect of which they get a driving licence. Where the vehicle is a motorcycle, the rider must wear an N – tabard.

I think it's pretty hit and miss as to what will happen. And the amount you get back usually depends on how much of the policy still remains. Is there long left? It is crappy practise to not refund some amount after the risk has been reduced. Insurance companies are really hitting people hard at the minute with premium increases, so it could be part of that too.

    thanks Alanstrainor,

we actually have 9 months left... firs time she took the exam, she failed

so we had to pay the insurance.. after more practice (with hubby) she
    passed no problem

I m usually not bother insisting... but i feel quite unfair that I ve been told 1 thing, my wife worked on it, passed and now we get nothing... :(

Maybe ask for a copy of the recording of your calls with them???

Indeed, one of the reps on here makes out that anything said on these calls is legally binding. This is a good achance as any to see to if calls that support a cost reduction for the customer can be found or if there are mysterious gremlins in the system that only record calls that benefit the insurer...
