Garda robot Vans

    What way do gardai process these speed detector vans photos,do they fine everybody who broke the speed limit or only a certain level say those going over 70 in a 60 zone

    All speeding fines, GoSafe or Garda, are processed in Tullamore by the Gardai. The tolerance appears to be + 2 / 3km/h over the limit. Keeping mind that at that point, your speedo is probably showing 7 - 10 km/h or more over the limit.

    I understand they are normal enough vans operated by a human, but I could be wrong about that.

    AFAIK the camera is setup to trigger when the speed detector is going over a certain speed and takes 2 photos, all those photos are sent back to Tullamore for processing. As part of the processing some photos are discarded because of problems with the photos, for example can't make out the full license plate, 2 cars, obscured by lorry, etc. etc. etc. Once the photos are seleceted they are reviewed by members of the traffic corp who then create the notices for sending out.
