    I'm applying for rent allowance and they want six months bank statements to show I have been paying rent on the house. Can I block out transactions on my bank statements? I mean it is private information at the end of the day.

    Yes your bank statements will have private info in them,however it would not be a good idea to blank out portions of them,the dept will not misuse the information in them.

    You sure that's all they want bank statements for. Usually to see have you any other income/bank accounts/etc

    Are you getting JSA or JSB from the dept.

    If your applying for rent supplement then you will be means tested for it and the CWO will want to see bank statements anyway. If it's the case that you are embarrassed by transactions please don't be. They really don't care.

    They only want your bank statements to make sure you are not getting any other income from other sources, so blocking some transactions out would raise red flags for them.
