If a landlord rents to a tenant and the tenant causes antisocial behavior, such as excessive noise, fighting ect, that causes a disturbance in the estate.
Can the landlord be held accountable for damages as they have made a profit from the tenant in renting.

Does anyone know of any cases brought where neighbors have sued for damages against an irresponsible landlord?

you used the words Profit, landlord and renting in the same sentence...

Anyhow, I don't think that the landlord is irresponsible because of his tenants .

If the property is registered with the PRTB then yes there is a resolution possible. Otherwise, the Gardai are responsible under public order legislation for acitvity in public places.

If the LANDLORD is notified of the antisocial behaviour and does nothing yes I believe he/she can be held responsible but not for criminal damage . Why you mention making à profit like its a crime is beyond me.

Im not sure why you think that...
I meant in the above example the landlord is making a profit by renting to someone that causes antisocial behavior. While making a profit the landlord is either unwilling or unable prevent the tenant from continuing. But since they are responcible for who rents off them they have not taken the time to find a good tenant.

I dont understand what you mean?

Maybe I need to elaborate my thoughts a bit more so take an example sceanrio.
    1. A landlord rents a house in a an estate that is shared by a number of people
    2. The landlords tenants cause antisocial behavior-Making the life of the neighbors difficult. For example lack of sleep, safty, whatever things are the result of antisocial behavior.
    3. Complaints get made by the neighbors-To the landlord but the landlord does not see this as a priority and therefore the process of dealing with the situation gets slowed down.
4.Meanwhile, the tenant continues causing antisocial behavior that interferes with the rest of the estate
    5. More complaints get made
    6. Landlord starts the eviction process-this takes time
    7.Tenant continues anti social behavior
    8. Landlord makes a profit while the tenats have

I cant edit the mistake in the above bost

    8. Landlord makes a profit while the neighbours have had to invest time and energy into an issue that was unfairly put on them.

It was a little joke - like there's some Landlords actually making money from this lark.......Tax on income 52%, Property tax, insurance, reduced expenses allowed, etc.

It is hard to make a profit...:(

Why would you be taking action against the landlord, and not against those causing the disruption??

The neighbours of antisocial tenants were awarded substantial damages against a landlord in Cork 2 years ago.

In 2012 a group of 13 neighbours were awarded €1000+€1250 each for each of 2 cases relating to a landlord that failed to address antisocial behaviour in 2 properties over the course of a decade.

If a landlord fails to take appropriate action when informed of anti social behaviour of their tenants which adversely affects the neighbours they can be made pay damages to the neighbours affected.
