Have 4 suckler cows who are lame on front legs.Got hooves done last week and man who did the job said they weren't bad and shouldn't be lame.A week later and no improvement, anyone any ideas as to the problem?

Did you watch him pare & were the hooves bruised underneath?

It will take a few days after the paring for the pain to go away, especially if he bled them by accident. There are numerous things it could be so anything here will only be speculation. I presume they're not bad enough for a vet?

If you have four of them with similar symptoms, I'd be looking at the area they're in, rather than the feet themselves. Firstly is it is the feet or knees that appears to be the problem? Stones, a steep hill they're walking down, sloppy muck they're standing in, all could play a factor. Or arthritis :P

front feet & back ok ?

water troughs ....is the area the cows stand level & free from stones etc

not going on their knees eating under strip wire ?

possible zinc or phosphorous deficiency ?

Have only seen one on her knees eating .under wire, there's no stones and the field is level. While the ground is hard as we hadn't much rain it wouldn't be as hard as last year when we had a long dry spell.I saw him pare them and as far as I could see only one bled a bIt and he said there was no reason for the soreness

Are you feeding them a lot of meal, as in fattening them?
