Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm hoping to take part in the Access to Science, Engineering and Agriculture course next year - emergency dental work with no insurance smashed any plans for this year - and would like to hear from people who've taken the course before.

Any recommended reading for prospective students?

Are there any assigned textbooks for the course, or are reading materials supplied by UCD?

How did you find the course?

Hi there, sorry to hear that the cost of your dental work is impeding your path for this year.
When you are on the Access course tutors will provide you with lots of suggested reading and online material. Pre-entry you will be offered intensive Hot Topic workshops in Mathematics. However, as re-engaging with Maths can be challenging for adult learners, it will help to put in some work in advance of the course. The books recommended by the maths tutor are published by the Open University: 'Countdown to Mathematics, Volumes 1 and 2’ by Lynne Graham and David Sargent. Although the material will covered in the course, preparing with the first 2 chapters of Vol.1 will be most helpful. Don't buy these new, they are quite expensive - they should be easily available secondhand, online!
    Best of luck! Thomond

Hi there, I'm hoping that we are going to see you with us on the Access to Science, Engineering & Agriculture programme this year.
If you haven't already applied, please do so asap - we will respond to your application with referral to on-line resources in mathematics. Pre-entry workshops in maths begin next Monday! All the best for now.

Can you still apply for that access programme? ? I applied last night for the social science one, but really want to get into nursing, which one will help to get in to the nursing degree? Many thanks :)

Access to Arts & Human Sciences is still open for applications. This course guarantees entry to the Joint Majors B.A, Social Science and Law degrees in UCD, to people who achieve 60% or more in course assessment. There is no Access to Nursing course, unfortunately.
