This thread is not about the protests or the legalities/blah. Let's not go there.
It's only about the charges starting and the costs.

I live in city centre and got a text yesterday to get in touch with IW.
Once logged in I see on their website I now need to pay two bills for a period from first April.

Looks like the charge is aprox a tenner/month.

Did other people get the notification to start paying?

Note that water charges started on 1st Jan 2015.

The first bills were for Jan-Feb-Mar.

Second bills, for second quarter, are being posted currently.

The charge depends on household composition, and/or usage.

The charge is capped at 160 pa for 1-person households, and 260 pa for all other households.

They installed the water meter outside the house the last day.

They dug up all our tarmac in our driveway to install the meter and then just left it, without cleaning it up.

Complete disgrace with treating of personal property.

Does it have to be the front or can ya have it placed out the back?

Have you a water supply coming in the back?

They will probably be back to tidy it up - they did on my road.

Afaik it has to accessible so on the boundary at the front where the water comes in would be usual.

Notification of bill came by email. I haven't looked at it yet.

Has your water consumption changed since metering started, OP?

Ours isn't metered yet but once it does start I definitely think we will use a lot less water and be more efficient about it. We will think of water in line with how we think of electricity / oil as in we will still use plenty of it but not waste it like we (most) people do

How frustrating. I paid online 14 Aug but their website still shows my bills as unpaid, and no withdrawal from my bank yet.
Will give them a ring now.

Nm, saw a notice on their website - it can take 3 working days for it to be processed and appear.

I've just been tearing the bills in half&sending them back by return post. Fair enough I've to pay postage but it's the principle that counts.

Why would you pay for a mail service?

Let keep this thread on the charges and leave the protesting for another thread.

Our bill for the second quarter is due tomorrow. We have no waste water charges here so the un-metered charge is working out at approx €2.70 a week.
