I have a pick up hitch on the tractor and I want to put the car trailor on tractor to get turf out of bog.

Is there a fitting available which can be placed on the pick up hitch and you then hook the car trailor on to this temporary fitting.

Get the pin with the ball top in the tractor factors and use this with your pin hitch.

You can get a bolt type attachment that goes through the holes in the drawbar of the tractor. The car trailer fits on this.

Get a ball pin, you'll get a good heavy one for under 20 euro

Do you have a clevis hitch (swinging drawbar) for your tractor? If you do get a pin as described above

Any how you should get a belt of a hitch for going to the bog in the first place. A pallet of coal and one of briquettes must be better value;)

Ah now frazz you are letting the value of dairy profits show...two nuggets of coal a day is all the rest of us can afford to add to the turf. Any bigger nugget we have to break in half to spare it!

Was there not a pin hitch that could be slotted onto the pick up hitch and you could add the ball for car trailer to that. Think i seen it on a few of the neighbours 6211's before their blood turned JD green.

    This is what we use..

Whatever you use it's important to tow a twin axle trailer level, doesn't be long wrecking the suspension if all weight is on one axle

why not go and borrow a tractor trailer off someone. The added clearance on the bog will be an advantage. Car trailers are to low and can end up causing you trouble

How to attach a 50mm hitch to the tractor

A- frame like above on the tractor lift arms (as above) on donedeal for €80-150

A 50mm ball pin like above on either a 9 hole bar or the draw bar (if you have it) it replaces the pick up hitch (50mm ball hitch is €18 in Matt buckleys Mullingar)
drawbar for your tractor 2nd hand could be €20 - 200
    9 hole bar are €50-100 on donedeal/adverts

But id prefer personally having a tractor trailer for clearance and for a decent size load

Having a ball hitch on a 9 hole, would it not twist and the trailer pop off? Or make sh!t of the trailer hitch? Is that not the point on using the 3pt link hitch?

I've never tried it, just always presumed that's what would happen.

+1 on a tractor trailer too.

€380 to cut. €100 of diesel to bring home. For approx 20 ton of turf.

reason I need a car trailor is that the shed is quite low and I couldnt reverse tractor trailor in. Once I get trailor out of bog I hitch it to the car.

If you only need to pull it off the bog to the road the cheapest way would be a short bit of rope.
