how to remove hand lotion from wall

So I stupidly leaned on my newly painted wall with my freshly moisturised hand and lo and behold there is now a big handprint right there, in my eye line annoying the crap out of me cos I don't know how to remove.

Does anybody have any tried and tested remedies that work to remove this kind of stain?

Its matt paint. I have some left over but have resisted painting over the stain in case the oil in the lotion will make the freshly painted bit look different - which would bother me just as much.

    Thanks

The first thing I'd try is to wash (rub hard enough to clean, but not so hard you remove the paint) with a 50/50 vinegar water solution.

Definitely don't paint over it until you've degreased it first.

Wash the wall with lukewarm soapy water and then repaint it.

Would that strip the paint? I know it strips wallpaper so not sure what it would do to paint :-)

It shouldn't do unless u really scrub v hard. I use it to wash down walls esp inside the front and back doors with kids marking the walls. My paint is egg shell finish tho. Try it on an area not visible to be sure first tho? Best of luck x

Have you tried asking in a paint store? I would think that any degreaser would work.

No. Any recommendations on who would be considered a good paint store (please send by pm just in case there are forum rules against posting this kinda stuff)? When I was picking the paint most of them had minimal knowledge
