Choosing between two cars to do up?

Hi guys.bit of advice would be welcome...my car has failed nct.husband has a car he'll swap for it.(he wants something to drive on our land.doesn't need to be road legal)
So wondering which of the two is worth putting money into to get through the test.not much spare cash at the moment,so would go with the cheapest option.
My own car is a toyota corrolla westate.love the car, great on fuel, huge boot.2 litre diesel so tax is pricey.needs shocks all round (quoted e240) also failed on hole in door sill.garage said they'd put filler in.(is that right?thought it'd need welding?)
Other car is an audi a3.runs great, but fuel guage doesn't work.neither do three out of the four electric windows.also needs new tyres all round.
Wondering which is the best option.wouldn't want to ditch my own car, then pay e80 per window mechanism.suspect front window (drivers) is a mechanical problem,as it sounds like it is trying to descend.back windows seemed to fail at the same time, and just make a clicking sound when button is pressed
Thanks for any help or advice.the problems with the audi seem fairly insignificant to me,but could maybe cost a lot to get through a test?

I'd say the Audi is the one to keep.

Thanks for the input.cheaper on tax/insurance,so you're probably right.

2.0d Corolla is a bit old hat these days too. It would undoubtedly outlive the A3 if you fixed it up.
The Audi is that bit more respectable and the jobs needed are simpler.

Thanks.not really bothered about the Toyota being old hat.it's a good solid car and I love it.was thinking more about cost.could happily live with no fuel guage and no electric windows.they seem like minor things, but if needed for the test, could possibly cost a lot to put right.

Fuel gauge not needed for nct. Only drivers window checked on nct.

id say send the audi through without doing anything. see what it fails for , tyres are a visual. windows too. no restest needed
you dont want to put a full set of tyres on it for it to fail on something big .
