IT Dept Hiring Timeframe

I recently applied for a position on 1 July through an agency. I've been in regular contact with the agency and the only update is that my CV wasn't immdiately dismissed unlike a few others. That was about a month ago. All other updates have been basically "I have no update"

This is a position and company that really appeals to me, so I am very anxious about it. I haven't had a lot of experience applying for jobs because I tend to stay in the same company for a long time. Is the timeframe as outlined above common? I was hired for my current position much faster than this.

    Thanks

Would it be bad ettiquette to contact the company directly?

in my opinion yes if you are using a recruiter and you believe they are genuine, others would go to the company.

    What recruiter are you using?

At this point, I'd say you have nothing to lose.

And I'd be getting rid of that agency if I were you.

I won't post it publically but they seem to have a good rep and the women I'm dealing with got my current role. The lack of feedback, either positive or negative, is concerning though.

if thats the case she has no need to string you along, you have proven youre a cash cow, if there wasnt money to be made on you i think she'd tell you tbh.

So should I sit tight and wait or contact the company directly?

Sit tight, if you go around her i dont think she'd deal with you again as it could jeopardise her relationships with her companies, I'd say sit tight

Fair enough. As I said, applying for jobs is very uncommon for me so I'm out of my comfort zone - just very eager for that position.

OP, it's only been six weeks since you applied! All sorts of things can slow things down, in big companies hires can take months if they have to be signed off by multiple people and some are on summer holidays etc.

Do not contact them directly. Just wait, that's all you can do.

Eh I'd disagree, I applied for a role in June and it was end of July I heard back

It's holiday season OP should wait.
NOt to mention pissing the agency off
