I've been a student member of my golf club with the last number of years.
I joined up as a student again November of last year.
I received an email today stating they want documentation clarifying student status and until the information is received you will not be eligible to participate in club competitions.
As it is August college is not open at present it's impossible to prove student status and I am not enrolled as of yet to attend college as of year 15/16

Do you have a Student Card?

no I have no student card. I'll be honest I wasn't a student during last few months but they accepted full payment for the year.
Are they allowed to just stop me from playing at the club now even though they accepted payment without any questions at the time.

That depends on the small print but if you can't justify your student membership status you don't have much leverage.

If you were a legit student when you paid your sub back in November, you could argue that your current situation is temporary and ask them to be flexible. But if you were not a student in November, you don't really have a case from a legal perspective.

You say you have been a member for a few years so if you have decent relations with anyone on the committee or other notables, you can do a bit of lobbying. Clubs offer student membership with the expectation they will eventually "graduate" to full membership. No club wants to lose members these days but they don't want to be exploited either.

    Colleges are open year round.
Generally busy all summer with repeat students and the staff get very little time off.

I called to my college(GMIT) to get a letter yesterday for the grant application.
If you're not close enough you can ring them for a letter.

Sounds like you're not the average student as it shouldn't be a problem in any normal college.

Sounds to me like, ya might of told a wee white lie to gain value membership and they are calling your bluff, If I'm wrong I apologize.
But thats how I read it.

Sounds like they cop on that you've not being a student for a while and you were claiming student membership fraudulently which is why they suspend you. I'm guessing someone report it. I would just be happy that you got away with it for so long. If that's incorrect, then I apologize for making that statement.

They might have a under 25's under 30's membership type if your young enough? Otherwise you'll have to take up full membership or get cheaper membership elsewhere.

Out of interest, if someone enrolled in a night course at a college and got a student card, would this entitle them to student membership? I'm guessing yes.
