Cleaning interior with wet-vac

Going to have a go at the seats and carpet in my car this weekend and I just want to make sure what I intend on doing is correct.

    - Hover the car first
    - Spray on interior shampoo, Autoglym spray is the one I have
    - Let it soak in for a few minutes and scrub with an interior brush with a bucket of hot water and liquid washing powder. (can't remember it's proper name)
    - Wipe with a microfiber
    - Then use the wet-vac to remove the wetness.

Is there anything I'm missing ? Does the autoglym stuff leave a nice smell or should I get a fabric/air freshener spray ?

Any tips for going at the dash or plastics that show their age ?

I'd adapt the above method, you are using too much detergent.

The agitation process is correct, however you don't need more detergent in the bucket.

Then use the microfibre and a bucket of fresh, hot water to transfer soling into as you wipe, wringing out the microfibre as required. Your aim is to transfer the soil you have rendered aqueous into the bucket, so change as needed. With the method you are using you will be at the seats for about an hour. Vac each one as you go, not after you have finished, perhaps misting with water from a sprayer to help residual slurry into the vac.

Depending on the condition, I'd usually tend to any bad spots first with a upholstery cleaner and a scrubbing brush; not going to hard at it.
Then Id wet vac using the upholstery cleaner, and then again with just water, ensuring to give 2 passes, one in each direction with just the vac.

De-humidifier bags can be got fairly cheap in the likes of Home Store & More, which should ensure that all the surfaces are close to dry by the following morning.
