Hi, I want to keep a couple of sheep purely on a hobby non commercial basis. We have decided on a couple of Hampshire down. We have a farmer locally that keeps them, But before I approach him would like to know the following.
Are there any hampshire down sales in the spring ?
Is it usually possible to buy ewes(2nd or 3rd season) with 1 or 2 lambs at foot ? or ewes in lamb ?
and what roughly should I expect to pay for them ?

I know I could buy commercial types cheaper and easier, but like I say..It's not really a money making exercise.
    Thanks in advance

They are nice sheep, you may just go to your neighbour and ask him about them.
