We were thinking of putting the van back on the road but the DOE ran out last September. I called them center and was told that if I DOE it now I need to redo it in 3 weeks but if I wait the 3 weeks I won't get 12 months as the system doesn't allow for it. So basically I have to DOE it twice to use it for the next 12 months, is this right?

If it was an NCT you could wait until september and get it for a full year but, according to the woman in the DOE centre, you'll only get a doe cert for 6 months if it's expired over a year.

You can appeal it with the RSA after the fact and most likely get it extended to 9 months or even the full year. 1890406040

    Any link to that?
9 months will still mean you have to do it twice. Best bet for the OP is to do it twice one week after the other. Serious kick in the wallet though.

No, the best bet is to do it once then call and plead your case.

I see it every day, i work in a test center

My friend DOE'd his camper the other week. I went over with him to collect. He only got a cert for 7 weeks. First time testing it under the new system. Can you appeal that?

Of course, you can always try. I assume he had it off the road for a while? That will help his case

Ye the last one expired during the winter. Kick in the stones as he put it through and it failed on the handbrake. Mid fix it broke the rod from the hand brake so by the time he got the part and sorted it, he had to pay full whack again. 700 euro later he only got it for 7 weeks. I'll pass him on that number and see how it goes.

was the van declared off the road? if it was , this may give you a case to have your cert extended. If it wasn't they'll assume it was on the road and the system is designed to prevent people having a CVRT holiday.
