Large propeller aircraft over Dublin

    Hi all,

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to aircraft but I do enjoy a little bit of plane watching from my back garden in north Dublin.

Just a few moments ago I spotted a rather large propeller powered plane flying over the house, it was at a low enough altitude but not low enough for landing or at an altitude I've seen planes at before. I've popped on to flightradar to see if it was listed there but there is nothing on that particular path.

Any idea what it would have been?

Did you see what colour it was or any markings on it?

It was hard to see due to the sun but I didn't notice any markings, it was a grey/silver/blueish type colour. Sorry I can't be more descriptive. The only reason it caught my attention was the fact that it was quite loud as I'd just popped out to the bin.

A Casa took off from Casement and turned north over the city/north Dublin around that time

Just googled it and this is the most likely candidate. Definitely fits the bill, looked like a heavy duty piece of kit alright.

    Thanks!

Two options, either the Casa as mentioned or there is a DHC-6 twin otter doing survey flights out of Weston https://www.flickr.com/photos/namcys11/18402827734/

I think the otter was over Castlerea around midday. Or else it was an army/garda plane checking on Ming and the turfcutters!
