Well, the volume button on the Celicas stereo gave up. Not repairable.

I was going to pop to halfords and get shafted on something there but said i'd ask here first encase there is any well kept secrets online.

Has to be a double din as the dashboard is spartan enough without adding a din pocket too. Spec etc doesn't really bother me, not worried about output or connectivity etc, i really just use it to listen to FM.

would ideally like to spend under €200 as this car is really trying to bankrupt me at this stage but i'd easily be talked into somethimg dearer if it was justified.

Any suggestions or should i just stick to halfords?

    I have this Alpine

I used to have an old Sony single DIN which I really liked just for how intuitive it was to use and the sound was good, and it played EVERYTHING normal.

The Alpine is a pain to change to different equaliser settings which bugs me a lot, doesn't play some files, navigating USB files is slow (at least it is from my steering wheel controls*), but the bluetooth car kit and music streaming is very good. TBH I'd be surprised if you could do better for €135 (150 -10% group scheme, but maybe you have better discount?).

*If you have steering wheel controls you should be able to get a unit to get the controls talking to the Alpine.

I don't hate this head unit, I just really liked that Sony!

Looks better in your setup. My dash is very light/bright silver so it looks a little out of place, but the factory yoke wouldn't play MP3/USB/BT. Happy with the sound etc?

We have both reduced by 50% the number of insurers that will quote us now due to replacing a defunct factory unit with a €150 head unit. Oh well.

Sounds much better than the old Sony actually, which only had bass and treble adjustments and having USB and Aux is handy.

It's not strictly new, it was in the Glanza, I just swapped it out because the Glanza doesn't see the road much :P

Is that the case with insurers really? Should I have went back to Toyota and spent the value of the car on a replacement Sony? Ffs.

    "No non-standard audio equipment".
Yeah certain insurers still think we live in the 1980s or something. Who the f**k robs €150 double din head units?
You are much more likely to have a high spec VAG or BMW factory unit stolen surely?
    But hey...
