Thinking of selling my car, but as there are not many about, don't know its value...
    2000 A4 Avant 1.9tdi Quattro

    T&T

See plenty of the 2.5 quattro's but the 1.9's are sparse...

Mileage, condition? Colour? Service history? Spec?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 556 ✭✭✭ligertigon

    of course, forgot about that..

Very little service history, a stamped book up to about 2004 I think,
Condition, interior good, but exterior has dings over many panels, the dark blue hides them from a glance!
No rust anywhere, has cruise control and factory towbar.

The Audi A4 (2000) in a diesel manual is averaging about €1470 from a data set of 54 cars. Average mileage for that data set is 198,000. The Avant has a slightly higher asking price at €1660 and higher average mileage at 280,000. But as you said, the Avant is far rarer so those are not good figures for a decent average.

Your looking at a €1500 selling price IMO.

    Thanks. Are those 54 cars also 4x4 's ?

on done deal A4s from 2000 are about €1400 downwards .. advertise for €1400 and expect about €1100-1200

Unfortunately my data doesn't go that deep but given other factors and the age, its not going to produce a significant difference in asking price.

15 years old car itcan be very hard for many people to insure it .
Lots of threads here on dificulty to insure cars older than 15 years
So the value will probably be worse than you think

Not meaning to take away from your car OP, but is it even worth selling? Wouldn't it be worth more to you to drive for another few years and get the last out of it?

I have an 05 Legacy, you couldn't give them away if you tried as no one wants a 2.0L petrol AWD car. I intend buying a newer car next year but will simply hold onto the Legacy and use it in winter if we get a lot of snow/ice.

If your car is going well then keep driving it or hold onto it for winter use.

Have a B5 quattro avant myself as a run around, i think 1500 is a fair price.

I was on the hunt for one for a few months in that time maybe 2 came up for sale in the UK average around 7/800 stg and the weren't particularly clean. VRT is about 500e so 1500 is a fair price, getting that for the car is a different kettle of fish.

Yet new Golf R's are flying out the door at VW main dealers.

I haven't seen many stats on that but from my understanding, many you see advertised are not actually in the country. Its merely sales talk. I can't see the average Joe Soap too interested in a €50k+ Golf that is petrol and boasts 300bhp. Sure it's not daysul and the tax is brutal etc.

Golf Edition R I can see being popular here. All show and no go.
    Petrol: 4-cylinder gasoline engine 1.2 l
    Diesel:4-cyl. turbo dies. eng. 1.6 l/81 kW

Golf R? Doubt they are selling in big numbers.

It's pretty tragic* marketing actually to creat a car like the R and then devalue it with the "Edition R".
*Will help shift the Edition R, so it's clever - but takes away from specialness of the R doesn't it?

It's a paddy special, VW grabbing a piece of the "dicky up a slow model and pretend it's the cool one" RSTDI/Red-D,Red-I market. Lol.

The stats are freely available on beepbeep.ie with a bit of creative thinking. The R is the only 2.0 Golf with emissions > 156 gCO2/km. There have been 65 such vehicles registered in this country YTD. There are only 6 pre-regs on Carzone. Not a huge number compared to daysuls of course, but for what it is, they're flying out the door. 570 tax isn't brutal, you used to pay that on a 1.6-1.8! :pac:

As an aside, you're aware the VW cut the price of the R last October by 10 grand, so it's now a 40k+ car, not a 50k+, it's a little over 6k dearer than a GTI.

I could pick up a Golf R for the same price I paid for my MKv GTI in 2007.

Strangely enough I'll be selling my B5 2001 A4 Avant TDi fairly soon. Was wondering the same also. I had around the 1500 mark in my head in fairness.

It's completely original and kingfisher blue so the felt lads should love it!
